Bugsboro is a harbor town located in the middle of the Swarm Isles: it is the central hub for bug commerce and culture. Insects from the surrounding islands come to this city to seek out fame, fortune, or just plain ol’ employment in the booming trade industry. 

In the center of this town is BGBR (Bugsboro Radio). Each week, listeners are treated to music, enlightening conversations, and just about anything the team can get away with airing. The show is hosted by Simon, the self-described “wasp of the waves”. There by his side is the good-natured honeybee, Janice, and a humorous, southern potato bug named Starch. Most of the music is provided by Itsy, a spider with a knack for playing multiple instruments at once. 

Equally as vital to the radio program is Midge, a moth with an interest in all things macabre. She and her partner Sal, a scorpion who spent his life sailing the seven seas, discuss and tell old legends from the Swarm Isles during the “Smidge of Mystery” segment. 

No radio station would be complete without its own shock- jock; in this case, he’s known as Jean Dean, a testy fire ant that regularly belittles the other bugs. After tanking the ratings with his distasteful program “JEAN DEAN THE MACHINE”, he narrowly avoided being fired by his uncle; much to his chagrin, he must now play second fiddle to a bunch of “hippie softshells”.
